Maison d’Ail is a family-owned guesthouse tucked beneath the Franschhoek mountains, created by Clive and Jeanne Garlick and today lovingly continued by their three daughters.

Bedrooms
Five rooms. Each a little different. All designed for slowing down. Maison d’Ail has three spacious luxury rooms and two comfortable standard rooms, all with private en-suite bathrooms. Our luxury rooms offer private balconies or beautiful views, while every room has air-conditioning, television and everything you need to settle in comfortably. Unpack. Kick off your shoes. Sleep late. For a little while, make it yours.
FROM OUR FRONT DOOR
Maison d’Ail sits beneath the Franschhoek mountains on Reservoir Street — peacefully tucked away, yet only around 1 km from the heart of the village. Leave the car behind and wander into town. Stop for coffee. Browse the galleries. Stay too long over lunch. Bring a bottle home. Then enjoy the walk back to somewhere a little quieter. Close enough to explore. Far enough away to exhale.
MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME
Come downstairs slowly for breakfast. Curl up on the couch. Find a sunny spot on the veranda. Pour a glass of local wine from the honesty bar. Swim. Read. Chat. Or do absolutely nothing for a while. We believe hospitality lives in the little things too — something homemade at breakfast, a thoughtful touch in your room, or a recommendation for somewhere we think you might love. Because staying at Maison should feel a little more like coming home.

Feels like home or staying with (rich!) friends!
This was truly our best stay in South Africa. It is a small guesthouse with only five rooms and therefore the service level is very high and very personal. Very nice Guesthouse in Franschhoek!
Nice guesthouse just outside of “Franshoekcity” but all within walking distance. Especially the host Amanda, who was very helpful not only with restaurant tips, but also fulfilled personal wishes in a very loving way.
